Aït-Ben-Haddou is a fortified village at the foot of the High Atlas in the province of Ouarzazate in southeastern Morocco. The entire old town has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

Rumble down the ancient stone-block road, now lined with souvenir shops, to the bank of the Oued Mellah. If the rivers is dry as usual one could bike across, invariably getting stuck in loose gravel and sand. Here the biking ends anyways, so you might as well park the bike. The old kasbah on the opposite side is a maze of stairs and steep narrow walkways. It can get touristy but is well worth the visit, exploring the old hillside town, and enjoying the view from the top.
