This historic monument, approximately 2 meters long, is the property of the municipality of Vergisson. It dates from the Neolithic period and has been classified as a historic monument since September 19, 1958.

The role of this menhir was to indicate the West face, it was placed at the sunset of the equinox. There are two other menhirs in the town but which are in a lying position: the South menhir, approximately 2.90 meters high, and the indicator menhir on the North face, approximately 3.90 meters long. The 4th menhir (the former location of which is unknown) was moved and Christianized.
