The Ortiz Bridge in the center of the city of Cali was the first river crossing on the Rio Cali. The bridge was built between 1835 and 1845 by the Franciscan monk Fray José Ignacio Ortiz from Candelaria, who was an amateur engineer. The bridge is now a national monument of Colombia. From the bridge there is a beautiful view over the Rio Cali, the Iglesia La Ermita and the Parque de la Retreta.

The Ortiz Bridge is a bridge and national monument.[4] located in Santiago de Cali, in Colombia. It is located in the center of the city and was the first to be built on the Cali River.[4] The engineer of the work was the Franciscan friar Fray José Ignacio Ortiz, a native of Candelaria, who was an amateur engineer.
