In the Appelhülsen sewage fields there are three water basins, the edges of which are characterized by shallow water zones, muddy areas and stands of reeds and reeds. In spring and autumn, rare birds can be found in the NSG, which benefit from the abundance of insects in and around the waters.
The different species can be discovered undisturbed from a bird watching hut. With a bit of luck, rare species of snipe and ducks, as well as various wading birds, can be observed.

This section of the path is part of the SteverLandRoute. It begins at the Rieselfelder in Appelhülsen with the hands-on station at the bird watching hut. From there the path leads along the Stever, which is partly designed to be close to nature, to Senden. At the Rieselscheibe interactive station about halfway along the route you can find out what happens when little Stever overflows its banks.
The SteverLandRoute is the family cycle path in Münsterland: Here, display boards for adults and information boards especially for children (!) provide information about the great project. There are a total of 14 participation stations along the route. Anyone who likes can use the children's discovery map to travel from station to station, collect coin impressions and become a Stever expert. Take a look at our collection :)
