"The Marktheidenfeld town garden on the Mainkai
The garden on the Upper Mainkai, affectionately known as the town garden, is a special place, close to the center, right on the cycle path and very close to the Main, and yet a place of peace and contemplation.
For centuries, Marktheidenfeld was surrounded by a ring of gardens outside the market town's walls. Most of them were small gardens and small gardens, usually also walled and equipped with small garden houses. An excerpt from the original survey of Marktheidenfeld from around 1840 shows us this state.
The town garden has probably always been something special, with its size, its symmetrical layout, its little house above the entrance door and the fountain located at the intersection of the access routes. With its division into four equal-sized fields and a fountain in the middle, the garden corresponds to the division of a garden that has been common since the Baroque period. The garden was probably laid out as early as 1754. At that time, a stone was inserted above the entrance door showing the year 1754 and the merchant's sign, which is widespread in Franconia, combined with the initials IAF. The initials are identified with Johann Adam Franz (* 1712)."

"The town of Marktheidenfeld acquired the garden in 1994 as part of the renovation of the old town and in 1995 initially restored the wall and the garden house. In 1997, the garden was laid out in a Baroque style. In 1998 - at that time Marktheidenfeld celebrated its 50th anniversary as a town - the garden was opened to the public.
The Marktheidenfeld artist Erich Gillmann (1925-2016), who is responsible for the commemorative plaque commemorating the town's anniversary in the garden, contributed to the garden's furnishings from 1998 onwards with very differently designed sculptures from his workshop. The Gänseliesel next to the entrance was his last work of art in the garden, and also his last work ever. Since 2015, female figures by the Würzburg artist Hilde Würtheim have been added."

A very idyllic and quiet public place, not far from the turbulent Main cycle path, which has a magical atmosphere thanks to the presence of some melancholic sculptures.
