Battle Abbey was founded by William the Conqueror in 1070 in memory of the battle fought at Senlac Hill in 1066. The site is managed by English Heritage. A footpath leads around the battlefield. There is also a Cafe on site.

I was surprised how much we enjoyed it!
The audio guides are really interesting and we learned and experienced a lot.
I would definitely come again, there is a lot to see and the big tour we chose covered everything.
The shop was great too.
The houses and (battle) grounds are managed by English Heritage.
