Already in the 13th century a Romanesque predecessor building was built. The churchyard was surrounded by a defensive wall, which was significantly higher than today. In 1494, a new building was built from which the mighty west tower (defensive tower) of the church with preserved, added choir arch is still preserved. The nave was on the other side of the tower (Wikipedia).
