The bridge structure was built in 1885 for the narrow-gauge railway in Wilischthal, which opened in 1886. It consists of steel trusses which are supported on round pillars in the middle of the river. The Wilischthalbahn ran from the town of the same name to Ehrenfriedersdorf. In 1972 the line was closed except for a small section from Wilischthal to the paper factory. The last shunting track ran here in 1992.

The railway bridge has been without tracks since 2009.
