At the end of the 18th century, brown coal deposits were found in the Söhre. The Stellberg colliery was founded and remained active until 1967. The meadow shaft was created in 1932. The mining field was reached via a 300 m long conveyor shaft. Each group was paid according to the amount of production. There were also own stamps that were hung on the wagons.

The reconstructed shaft is also a shelter, but it is now somewhat dilapidated and a ceiling beam has collapsed. But it gives the whole thing an unintentionally rustic character.
