St. Peter in the former village of Törten, which is built on a hill and is now a district of Dessau-Roßlau, is considered to be the oldest church in Dessau. The church was first mentioned in 1228, but its structure is older. At that time, Törten was a fishing village on the Mulde. Therefore, St. Peter became the patron saint of the church.
Monks from Nienburg (Saale) built a small Romanesque church here, the bell of which dates from the 12th century.
