The Ahmadiyya Muslim community has been using the Bait-ul-Rasheed Mosque in Hamburg-Schnelsen for their religious purposes since 1994. The followers of this reform community advocate a liberal, cosmopolitan Islam and reject violence. It is the only Muslim organization that has neither a political nor a militant wing. The members are mostly of Pakistani, Indian and Afghan origin. Today's mosque, which translates as the "House of the Righteous", was originally an old factory hall for metal processing. In 2012 it was renovated into its current form with donations.
