Fort Rotterdam in Makassar is a fortress from the 17th century. in Sulawesi Selatan. The Dutch fort was built on the site of an earlier Gowa Sultanate fort called Ujung Pandang.
From September 1971 to October 1999, the city of Makassar was renamed Ujung Pandang.
The fort was the regional military and government headquarters of the Netherlands until the 1930s. It was extensively restored in the 1970s and is now a cultural and educational center, a music and dance venue, and a tourist attraction.
