Frauenstein Castle is a Renaissance castle built in the 16th century next to the castle ruins of the same name to meet the increased demands of comfort of the residents of the time. Today, it houses the Gottfried Silbermann Museum, dedicated to the famous organ builder. Dating back to around 1200, the castle ruins were severely damaged by a town fire in 1728. They are known for their romantic atmosphere and are considered one of the most beautiful and largest castle ruins in Saxony.
