Independence Square is flanked by City Hall to the north and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception to the east. The Iron House, designed by Gustave Eiffel, is located in the immediate vicinity of the square. The Tunduru Gardens, designed by British gardener Thomas Honney in 1885, are a block further south.
