Pretty decent asphalt (2024), in Ghmate you can easily drive further north towards Marrakesh (but IMHO the RP2017 is much more fun heading north because the minimal gradient means you can drive incredibly fast and also take the slipstream of a car / docker with you can.
There are many garden centers/nurseries to the west of the road, there was quite a bit of traffic and water on the road.
In Ghmate there is also a well-paved route to the south, but I haven't driven it and don't know if it will stay that way.
