The reservoir is situated in a serene part of Exmoor. Lying deep in the valley, many passing hikers do not even realise it's here. However, from this spot you get a good view of the water nestled into the countryside. In 1942, Nutscale Water was dammed to supply Porlock and Minehead with fresh water. Now it just serves a few properties.

If you pay attention, from this point on the path, you'll have good views of Nutscale Reservoir surrounded by beautiful countryside and hills. This reservoir, with water from the River Horner, used to supply Minehead, Porlock, and Porlock Weir, but now it serves just a few properties. It was constructed in 1942.
