The municipality of Gignod, located about 8 kilometers from Aosta, lies at 988 meters above sea level on a shelf on the slopes of Punta Chaligne, in the Gran San Bernardo valley. Numerous villages extend around the main nucleus of the town and integrate harmoniously into the mosaic of the landscape.
The town occupies a key position along the route of the Via Francigena, a recently revamped route dedicated to hikers wishing to follow the ancient paths frequented first by the Salassi and later by the Romans, to then be used by medieval pilgrims heading to Rome.
Today, Gignod has become a holiday destination for tourists in search of the tranquility of natural spaces, which offer priceless views of the Valpelline mountains and the majestic Swiss massif of the Grand Combin.
