Ssite of a revolt against the French colonial suppression. Guided by the great-great-grandchildren of the Abbey ethnic group, hearing their recounting of the history.

"During the colonization of the Ivory Coast by France, the Abbey's resistance to the French colonists from 1905 to 1918, peaking in 1910, was the fiercest, in particular because of the route of the Abidjan- Niger. It was in this town that Colonel Rubino, a French employee of the French West Africa Company (CFAO), was assassinated by villagers during the Abés revolt in 1910. To demonstrate their anger against the raids recurring settlers, the villagers cooked his body and made sure that the settlers ate the dish. The town was named after him and became a place of pilgrimage (Rubino mausoleum)."
