After the border station, a smugglers' path goes over the mountain ridge to the Candelario Mancilla ferry pier. The narrow path leads steeply uphill, with heavy bumps through ravines deeply trodden by horses, over streams, swamps, roots, rocks. Both of us old men are getting pretty huffy. Especially through the narrow ravine, only the two of us manage to push and drag a bike with luggage through. A wider path awaits us at the top. However, steep downhill and loose gravel. Not easy either.
