At the eastern end of Mutrah's corniche (waterfront promenade) begins the Riyam district, whose biggest (and probably only) attraction is a gigantic Omani incense burner that sits on a worn rock high above the city and looks like a UFO from a distance. It is often referred to as the landmark of Muscat.

The large incense burner on the hill can be seen from far away. There is a path leading up to it, but it was closed. But it is also a beautiful photo opportunity from below.
