The St. Marien Church is a very beautiful ... It is open in the summer months and can be visited. Here you can find peace and quiet in the middle of the city ...

The church tower is already visible from afar coming from all directions. I like the somber passage between the two squares, where people passed through 500 years ago.

The St. Marien Church in Winsen (Luhe) is a late Gothic hall church that was built around 1415. The individual side aisles and the hexagonal, neo-Gothic church tower, through which a passage in Kirchstrasse runs, are particularly characteristic of its appearance. The Evangelical Lutheran St. Marien Congregation serves the residents of the city center and the villages of Hoopte, Stöckte, Gehrden, Laßrönne and Tönnhausen.

The construction of the late Gothic hall church probably began around 1415. The choir was covered in 1437, the nave in 1465. The church received only one aisle and the vault of the nave was never completed. The interior is mainly from the time of the major redesign in the 1950s. The colorful choir windows were created by Claus Wallner from 1958 to 1966. The altarpiece, the baptismal font and the bronze pulpit panels are the work of Fritz Fleer. The Luther statue comes from the sculptor Friedrich Meinecke, who was born in Winsen. Like the neo-Gothic tower with a height of 62 meters, it was completed in 1899.

The St. Mary's Church in Wnsen was completed in its present form around 1468.
However, there has been a church building on this site since 1233. The medieval structure of the two-aisled, asymmetrical nave with choir is still preserved.
Two magnificent chandeliers from 1727 adorn the otherwise simple church.
Around 1880 the church was redesigned in the spirit of classicism, and in 1897 the tower was built in its current form.
In 1959 the interior of the church was fundamentally changed. The galleries and the altar with the “Eye of God” were expanded, the nave was painted white, new stained glass windows by the Hamburg artist Wallner and a bronze altarpiece and a new organ were installed.
For the 750th anniversary of the St. Mary's Church in 1983, the church was restored again. In the course of this, ceiling paintings were found in the vaulted ceiling in the choir room, some of which were uncovered. The church was completely renovated in 2000. Considerable renovation of the masonry and flooring as well as a new circulating air heating system had become necessary.
The original ringing with 5 bells could also be restored in 2000 solely through donations.
The long overdue restoration of the Ott organ from 1960 was completed in 2005. "High-tech" materials from the 1960s, such as synthetic resin glue and thin sheet metal for the organ pipes, had not proven themselves over the years and had given way.
After more than 2 years of construction, the renovation of the tower was completed at the end of 2005. In autumn 2005, the southern church forecourt was lowered and redesigned so that visitors can now enter the church without barriers.
