Jusan Pass is located on the Jusan Kaido (a road connecting Kandatsu in Yao City and Heguri County) and is located on the border between Osaka and Nara. In the early modern period, it was a popular route for those travelling from Osaka to Ise Shrine.

At the pass, there is a stone Jizo statue (1765), erected by the villagers of Fukukihata in hopes of ensuring the safety of travelers, and there are also road signs for the road (1689) and signs to Matsuo-ji Temple.

On the north side of the pass, there is the Jusanzuka, from which the name originated, and it is designated as an Important Cultural Property.

This route is also called "Narihira Road," and it is said to be the road that Ariwara no Narihira, a poet of the early Heian period and one of the Six Immortal Poets, took from Tenri to visit a woman in Kandatsu. Heguri Town has put up information boards for the central course, nicknamed "Jusan Kaido and Narihira's Romantic Road."

Also, there is an old road on the south side of the currently used paved road, where there are old remains such as guideposts. It is a steeper climb with a gradient.
