The road is nice and wide up to Hirschwinkel, then it's only a single lane. There's little traffic, but what might surprise you is the bus, which runs hourly from Herrenalb to Zieflensberg and the Gaistal valley.
Going downhill, you have to cross the valley meadow due to the one-way system. You'll pick up quite a bit of speed, but you should be very careful because of the aforementioned surface damage.
