The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Johann Baptist is a medieval church in the Steinheim district of Hanau. The Gothic hall church was initially given its shape in two phases, on the one hand when it became a parish church and on the other hand when the retracted choir with a 5/8 end and net vault was added in the years 1504-1509. Compared to the graceful Gothic architecture, the tower, which does not have a helmet but is decorated with four corner towers, appears very fortified and archaic. 1876-79 there was a thorough renovation of the church under Pierre Cuypers, which greatly changed the historical appearance.
