Since 1998, Matthias Drexler (Dipl. Ing. FH) has been working as the first trained forestry clerk in the Diocese of Passau. Until 2005, the benefice and special foundation forests were owned by the former Bayer through management and operational execution contracts. State Forestry Administration (through eight forestry offices and 31 forestry departments). At that time, forest management should be carried out according to the principles of “natural” forestry. As a result of the Bavarian forestry reform in 2005, the management of the foundation forests was carried out on the advice of the Bay. State Ministry transferred to the local forest owners' associations by means of forest management contracts (eleven in the diocesan area). Many, often changing, foresters look after the often very fragmented and small-area foundation forests. The organizational structure is therefore difficult.
