Niederaltaich Monastery looks back on almost 1,300 years of tradition. The buildings still preserved today and the monastery church are not that old, but the church is around 300 years old. At the beginning of the 19th century the monastery was only abolished as part of the secularization, but was re-established in the late 1940s. Today 30 Benedictines live and work here again.

The church and the monastery can be visited. You can also browse the monastery shop, feast in the Klosterhof restaurant or even spend the night in the guest house.

You can find all information about the monastery at abtei-niederaltaich.de.

Aisles: there are a total of eight altars. The glass shrines with the so-called holy bodies are something special about the side altars. These are skeletons of alleged martyrs, which were found in the Roman catacombs and came to Niederalteich in 1723.
