    The villa was designed on commission by Prince Paternò di Manganelli for his third wedding and began construction in 1907 on a raised level of land in what was then a peripheral countryside area of expansion not yet entirely incorporated by the city.

    Even when the construction site was completed, the villa was never inhabited and underwent various renovations over time. In 1947 the ownership of the villa was acquired by two families from Catania who divided it into distinct parts.

    The restriction of the Superintendency of the Municipality, introduced with the decree of 18 August 1971, includes the building as a cultural asset to be safeguarded.

    In 1975 a municipal building was inaugurated at the villa.

    An arson attack in 1981 irremediably damaged the interiors of the first two floors, subsequently requiring consolidation and safety measures by the family that owned the defaced spaces.

    After being restored, it is now used for the organization of receptions and events.
