North of Hob Hole, the road drops down steeply to the ford at Hob Hole, with extraordinary views of Kildale Moor and Westerdale. (Obviously, if you are cycling in the opposite direction, you will have a heft hill to climb!)

The ford at Hob Hole can be treacherous and dangerous after rain - there have been a number of vehicle incidents here over the year where people tried to go across and got washed over... use the footbridge to cross if the beck is in spate and/or where water levels are obviously too high.

On a happier note, next to the ford, there is a car park area, and the grassy bits there could be easily used for a picnic / food and drink stop to restore your energy on your ride.
