A visit to the sand nativity scene is one of the island's Christmas traditions under the sun and stars. From the inauguration at the beginning of December until after the arrival of the Three Wise Men, over 200,000 people visit this exhibition every year. Near Saulo Torón square, in the La Puntilla area, the nativity scene promoted by the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria occupies an area of over 1000 square meters. To depict the various scenes, some up to 5 meters high, 2000 tons of sand are used, which, with the help of water and the hands of the artists, become short-lived works of art, but which will remain forever in the memories of visitors.
