From 1921 to 1926, the Annweiler Nature Friends' Hut stood here. From 1927, it was the Annweiler Nature Friends House (until expropriated by the Nazis in 1933).
"The Annweiler Tourist Association built this [new log cabin] for honorary chairman Willy Achtermann on his 70th birthday on January 14, 1998. [...] At the end of July 1999, a large birch cross was erected in front of the Achtermann Hut, and the first ecumenical forest service was held."
