San Biagio is the parish church of the village of Cavagliano, now uninhabited, located at an altitude of 480 meters on the eastern slope of the Retaia. Founded in the first decades after the year 1000, it was abandoned at the end of the 1950s, when the last residents emigrated towards the plain and towards a less harsh life.

This small cluster of scattered houses, despite being positioned on arid and stony slopes, has had a relatively large population over the centuries which reached its peak in medieval times.

Between 1300 and 1400 there were documented between 100 and 150 inhabitants, who probably mostly lived in perishable buildings, huts or little more, which have not survived the passing of the years, unlike the few "elegant" houses with in Alberese filaretto which can still be admired today.

Ghost town of San Biagio... suggestive testimony to a human presence now gone. Abandoned stone town. Attention, some paths cross areas with pastures where SHEPHERD DOGS keep guard day and night. They are marked by signs, but you must be careful not to get too close.
