If you’re looking for something different to do, a visit to the Old LA Zoo might be just the thing for you. This abandoned zoo in a remote part of Griffith Park offers a perfect place to monkey about (sorry couldn't resist that!) and to see what it feels like on the other side of the bars.

This is the site of the first Los Angeles Zoo that was opened in 1912 and was abandoned in 1966 when the new LA Zoo opened. Today the cave enclosures are outfitted with picnic benches and grills for visitors and are a great place for a spooky out of the box visit.
