The high-altitude trail, blasted into the wall, was created as a result of military strategy and was a hotly contested front during World War I. This classic route in the Sexten Dolomites awaits every mountaineer with magnificent and spectacular views of the Fischleintal Valley and the wildly jagged Dolomite mountains, and is also suitable for absolute via ferrata beginners. The "Strada degli Alpini" is not technically difficult, but the exposed passages absolutely require a head for heights and surefootedness, otherwise it's no fun. Otherwise, the easily accessible rock ledge is secured by wire ropes at all difficult sections and runs along the western flank of the Elfer without any major elevation changes. For those who don't mind the depth and the deep views from the narrow ledges in places, this climb is a real treat.

      Character:

The Alpinisteig is one of the most famous easy Dolomite climbs and is therefore often crowded. This pass is one of the highlights of the Sexten Dolomites. It was built by the Italian mountain troops, the Alpini, during World War I and later improved for tourist use. The trail is largely a hike, crossing a secured rock ledge for only a few hundred meters below the Zsigmondykopf. It is easy for beginners, but a head for heights is essential.
