The entire district is officially called Paralia (Παραλία). Since the name literally means "beach," locals often simply refer to this section of the coast as the Paralia coast.
The immediate waterfront area along the Patras-Pyrgos road is rather narrow in this section and often characterized by stones or fortifications, but it does offer access to the water in places.
