The Monastery of Omplou (Greek: Μονή Ομπλού) is a significant historical monastery on Mount Omplos at an altitude of approx. 740 m.
The monastery was originally founded in 1189 (other sources mention 1315). It was established on the site of a small church dedicated to the Mother of God.
The name „Omplou" is likely derived from the Albanian word ëmbële (or obile), meaning „sweet". The local Albanian-speaking population referred to the Virgin Mary as the „Sweet Mother of God".

The monastery played a central role in Greek history, especially during the Greek Revolution of 1821. It served as a meeting place for freedom fighters and a supply center for the camp at Patras.
Due to its active participation in liberation struggles, the monastery was destroyed several times, including in 1770 by Turko-Albanians, in 1821 by the Ottomans, and in 1943 by German troops in retaliation for supporting the resistance.
The main building (Katholikon) is a three-nave basilica dedicated to the "Presentation of the Virgin Mary" (Mariä Tempelgang).
