These stones at the crown of Holt Hill mark the cardinal points of the compass, along with the places where the sun sets and rises on the summer and winter solstices — the longest and shortest days of the year. Don't forget to look around: You can also get great views up here of the Boston skyline and the rolling hills around you.

Easily reachable from a short hike in the Charles G. Ward Reservation, Holt Hill offers lovely views over Essex County.

There are many trails connected to hike up this Holt Hill from all direction in Andover and North Andover trails. It offers a spectacular view on clear days including the Boston skyline. From here hikers/walkers can take blue loop trail to climb the next hill called Boston Hill and back. The blue trail is my favorite to walk for over 5 miles stroll (OUT AND BACK).
