Legend dating back to the 18th century tells that this was the path taken by Gaetana de Ballis, beautiful and young, who, mortified in her affections by the marriage of interest with her elderly husband Giuseppe Papè, Prince of Valdina and Prothonotary of the Kingdom of Sicily, owner of the Castle of Calatubo, he took care of the rose garden around Cuba at night, in complete secrecy, which reciprocated his affection by blooming only in his presence.
