On a plateau in the Vercors natural park, this village has a strong historical past. Like the whole of Vercors, a center of resistance during the Second World War, Vassieux-en-Vercors was the scene of clashes between resistance fighters and the Germans. A memorial is dedicated to the history of the resistance on the heights of the village. There is also the Vercors departmental museum of the Resistance.
