Rishton is known nationally for its ceramics. About 90% of the ceramics sold in Uzbekistan are made by the approximately 1,000 potters in Rishton. Pottery making has been practiced in Rishton for at least 800 years. Only locally available raw materials are used. A characteristic of the ceramics are ornaments and patterns painted in blue and turquoise.
