The castle of Akrokorinth (Greek: Akrokórinthos) is the impressive acropolis of ancient Corinth and is considered the mightiest fortress in Greece. It towers over a 575-meter-high monolithic table mountain and offers a far-reaching panoramic view over the Isthmus of Corinth.
The complex combines ruins from antiquity, the Byzantine era, the Middle Ages (Franks), Venetian rule, and the Ottoman era.
The access leads through three massive, sequentially connected castle gates.
At the highest point once stood the famous Temple of Aphrodite.
