The Brunnenholz is the historical spa park of the former ducal mineral spa Ronneburg. Its creation dates back to the period between 1766 and 1790. The origin was the discovery of healing springs in the area south of the city of Ronneburg. With a reputation that reached as far as Regensburg and Stuttgart
the spa promenade, the bathhouse, the spa house (once a caterer's house), the Haus am Bade (lodging house), the music pavilion, the park at Johannisberg and the Urquelle building. Ronneburg was a health resort – Bad Ronneburg. Just 100 years later, the health resort had suffered a collapse along with its neighboring competitors in Köstritz and Klosterlausnitz. With the start of mining activity in the middle of the 20th century, attempts to restart spa operations were finally over.
Since 1990, the city has been trying to preserve the last remains of the spa park and to carefully intervene in the large trees. A memorial pavilion was created at the site of the historic source.
