South of Waldkirchen lies one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Bavarian Forest - the wild and romantic Saußbachklamm. An easy-to-walk path leads from the corner of Ringmauerstraße/Erlenhain to the Saußmühle. This is where the Saußbachklamm begins with its deeply cut gorge. The Saussbach did its work here over thousands of years. Huge granite blocks remained behind, which defiantly stand against the rushing water. A natural spectacle in which the lush vegetation all around forms the backdrop. The Saußbachklamm was declared a nature reserve in 1939.

Very nice little gorge, easy to walk through.
Hiking trail 1 is easy and not too long.
