If it really is "much quieter" today, I don't want to imagine what it was like before. The picturesque old stone bridge groans heavily under the traffic. Nevertheless, it's absolutely worth crossing; the river views on both sides are fantastic, and numerous waterfowl, especially herons, are undisturbed by the traffic. There are a few cafes and pubs around the bridge.
