This beach is called Is Compingius, or "the pines", in reference to the immense pine forest that rises behind the beach. The beach itself is a long stretch of sand with very clear and wonderfully blue sea, perfect for a beach break. The nearest town is Buggerru, which has its origins in a mining village founded in 1864. Today it is a tourist destination with around a thousand inhabitants, a fifth of the number recorded at the beginning of the 20th century.
