Speed boat on the channel, extremely inexpensive (maximal fare around 50 Cent). Very frequent during daytime, great experience and much faster as any taxi!

I can confirm. Also offers to explore the Khlongs Bangkok. The tourist boat costs 10 times more and does not drive otherwise.

Right! The tourist boats are much rarer and do not really offer the "authentic" experience. Anyone who has reservations and likes to hide in tourist ghettos is probably better off there (or should have a look at a movie about Bangkok) ... ;-)
