This opening section of the walk follows the river, lined with manna gums, where koalas are often spotted resting high in the branches. The open grassy nature strips also attract eastern grey kangaroos, especially in the early morning or late afternoon. It’s an easy, mostly flat start that invites slow walking and plenty of time spent looking up into the canopy.
