Hiking
Buole Pass, an Alpine pass between the Carega massif and Mount Zugna, separates Vallagarina from Vallarsa.
It is famous for the historic events of World War I: during the Strafexpedition of 1916, Italian soldiers, significantly outnumbered and outgunned, still managed to contain the Austro-Hungarian attack that would have led to an invasion of Val Lagarina. The pass was thus nicknamed "The Thermopylae of Italy," because a few men could stop many, similar to the legendary feat of the Spartans against the Persians in Ancient Greece.
