Mountain biking
On December 15, 1902, the first train on the then new Parenzana narrow-gauge railway ran along the Buje-Poreč route. This meant that the second section of the aforementioned railway, which connected Poreč and Trieste, was opened to traffic. A total of 123 kilometers long, the route meandered through the green landscapes of northwestern Istria and connected 33 Istrian towns.
The construction took two and a half years. The Parenzana remained in operation until 1935, when it was replaced by buses. Nevertheless, it left a deep mark on the areas through which it passed.
