The monument is a 12-foot-high statue. The monument is a 12-foot-tall statue of Major Winters, who led Easy Company of the 101st Airborne Division in several battles in Europe. The monument is located on the D913 between Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and Utah Beach, two of the landing sites of the Allied invasion of Normandy. The monument bears an inscription that reads: "Wars do not make men great, but they bring out the greatness of good men."
