Today's church owes its existence to the will of the dean of priests, Father Kieffer, and above all to his brother, the architect Jean Kieffer, who took over the work. Built in a less exposed location and respecting the peculiarities of the soil, it seems to watch over the harbor that stretches at its feet. The first stone is ceremoniously laid10. July 1966 by M gr Verdet, Bishop of La Rochelle and Saintes, in the presence of a crowd of the city. The church was consecrated under the name "Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Nicolas" on May 20, 1969.
